The Power of Detox

Does Detoxing Really Work? The Founder of Eden Wellness gives us a breakdown.

etoxing has recently become a very popular word on the lips of many, a process many feel they need to go on, some already include into their lifestyles and others just don’t believe in.

Understanding a detox and why we need to detoxify our bodies regularly is very important so don’t just jump on the bandwagon of “I’m detoxing” without knowing all about it.

The process

Thankfully our bodies are naturally designed to cleanse themselves of environmental and ingested toxins, but sometimes the digestive system gets overwhelmed by these toxins seeing as they are now everywhere.

Safe to say the level of pollution increases as the years go by and we are inevitably exposed to pollutants, genetically modified foods, chemically laden cleaning and skin products, motor fumes, OTC medicines, and general bacteria and viruses in the environment; it is only normal that our liver and other organs of detoxification become overwhelmed and the excess toxins that the body is unable to deal with is then stored in our fat cells and in other tissues of the body.

This accumulation of toxins can then lead to toxic damage which gives way for many diseases, as it presents itself with unpleasant effects such as headaches, skin breakouts, fatigue, depression, digestive issues causing bloat and gas, puffy eyes and dark circles, sinus congestion, insomnia, impaired thyroid function, fluid retention, fat accumulation, all the way up to life threatening diseases and organ failure.

How does a detox help?

A detox is a healing process whereby you feed you body with non toxic foods and drinks.

A detox can be done with fruits, vegetables and natural/ organic foods.

The best way to detoxify the system is to start with a juice cleanse of a variety of organic, pure and natural fruit and vegetable based juices which help supercharge your system with the essential minerals, phytonutrients and active enzymes that are present in fruits and vegetables. A juice detox jumpstarts you into a healthy lifestyle by committing come days to drinking only 100% restorative plant based juices, giving your digestive system a break, which helps accelerate and enhance the body’s natural detoxification process by infusing phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals that help hydrate your cells, flush out toxins, heal and nourish the body.

Apart from clearing out toxic waste, there are other reasons a juice detox is good for you;
– It helps in breaking unhealthy eating habits.
– It floods your organs with high quality, easily absorbable nutrients.
– Allergy relief
– Hormonal balance
– Improved lab values
– Increased energy and mental clarity
– Increased feeling of well-being
– Cleansed colon
– Lower blood pressure
– Tissue regeneration
– Better kidney and liver function
– It helps to oxygenate and alkalise the body.
– Radiant skin and brighter eyes.
– A good way to cleanse your colon
– Reduces inflammation of the body and general weight loss.

So when next you need to go on a detox please understand that a detox is not a quick fix to weight loss but a natural and supportive way to aid healing of free radical damage, which causes diseases and unpleasant day to day effects on the body.

For paper books, if you can’t stand the digital ones, borrow them (lend them to your friends too) or buy second-hand books.

May I make a suggestion, instead of using the beeswax food wraps, go for a more vegan friendly wrap made of soy wax, same concept but when collecting beeswax they have to destroy a part of the bees habitat and with declining bee population the soy wax option can help reduce the impact on bees.
